Poll Types

Understand the four poll types and when to use each

Overview#

Askify supports four distinct poll types, each designed for specific use cases. Choose the right type based on how you want your team to respond.

Single Choice#

Voters select exactly one option. Perfect for decisions where only one choice makes sense.

When to use

  • Team decisions with mutually exclusive options
  • Preference polls (e.g., 'Which design do you prefer?')
  • Scheduling (e.g., 'Best time for the meeting?')

Example

text
Question: Where should we have the team offsite?
Options:
  1️⃣ Mountains (45%)
  2️⃣ Beach (30%)
  3️⃣ City (25%)

Voting behavior

  • Click an option to vote
  • Click the same option again to retract your vote
  • Click a different option to switch (if vote change is enabled)

Multi-Select#

Voters can select multiple options. Each option tracks its vote count independently.

When to use

  • Gathering multiple inputs (e.g., 'Which features should we prioritize?')
  • Interest checks (e.g., 'Which topics interest you?')
  • Availability polls (e.g., 'Which days work for you?')

Example

text
Question: Which features should we build next? (select all)
Options:
  1️⃣ Dark mode (12 votes)
  2️⃣ Export results (8 votes)
  3️⃣ Poll templates (15 votes)
  4️⃣ Reminders (10 votes)

Voting behavior

  • Click any option to toggle it on/off
  • Select as many options as you want
  • Each selection is independent

Yes / No / Maybe#

Quick three-option poll for consensus checks. No need to specify custom options.

When to use

  • Quick approval checks (e.g., 'Should we deploy today?')
  • Consensus building (e.g., 'Move standup to 10am?')
  • Simple decisions that need fast feedback

Example

text
Question: Should we move standup to 10am?
Options:
  ✅ Yes (18 votes)
  ❌ No (3 votes)
  🤷 Maybe (5 votes)

Voting behavior

Same as single choice - one vote per person, with emoji buttons (✅ ❌ 🤷).

Rating Scale#

Voters rate on a numeric scale (1-5 or 1-10). Results show the average rating and distribution.

When to use

  • Satisfaction surveys (e.g., 'Rate this sprint')
  • Feedback collection (e.g., 'How was the presentation?')
  • Measuring sentiment or agreement strength

Example

text
Question: Rate this sprint (1-5)
Options:
  ⭐ 1 (0 votes)
  ⭐⭐ 2 (1 vote)
  ⭐⭐⭐ 3 (3 votes)
  ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 (8 votes)
  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 (5 votes)

Average: 4.0

Scale options

  • 1-5 scale: Default, best for quick sentiment checks
  • 1-10 scale: More granular, useful for detailed feedback

Voting behavior

Click any star rating to vote. The poll shows both individual vote counts and the calculated average.
