Templates

Save and reuse poll configurations

Overview#

Templates let you save poll configurations for quick reuse. Perfect for recurring polls like weekly check-ins, team lunches, or feedback surveys.

Creating Templates#

After creating any poll, Askify sends you a DM with a 'Save as Template' button.

  1. Create a poll using /askify
  2. After the poll is created, check your DMs from Askify
  3. Click the 'Save as Template' button
  4. Enter a name for your template
  5. Click Submit

The template saves:

  • Poll question
  • Poll type
  • All options (for single choice and multi-select)
  • All voting settings (anonymous, vote change, live results, reminders)
  • Close method (manual, duration, or date/time)
  • Poll description (if provided)

Using Templates#

Load a saved template when creating a new poll:

Method 1: From Templates List

  1. Run /askify templates
  2. Find your template in the list
  3. Click 'Use Template'
  4. The poll creation modal opens with all fields pre-filled
  5. Modify any fields if needed
  6. Select target channel and create

Method 2: From Creation Modal

  1. Run /askify to open the creation modal
  2. Look for the 'Load Template' dropdown at the bottom
  3. Select a template from the dropdown
  4. Modal fields update with template values
  5. Modify and create as usual

Managing Templates#

View and delete templates using /askify templates:

  • Each template shows its name, poll type, and option count
  • Click 'Use Template' to create a poll from it
  • Click 'Delete' to remove a template permanently

Template Use Cases#

  • Weekly team lunch polls with the same restaurants
  • Sprint retrospective rating polls
  • Recurring availability checks for meetings
  • Monthly feedback surveys with consistent questions
  • Standard approval workflows (e.g., deploy checklists)

Tips#

  • Give templates descriptive names (e.g., 'Weekly Lunch Poll' not 'Poll 1')
  • Create templates for any polls you run more than once
  • Update templates by deleting old ones and saving new versions
  • Templates are private to you — other users can't see your templates
